"SOY VENENO" - JOANNA RAE
Monterrey, Nuevo León, MÉXICO. While Texan singer Joanna Rae has stayed relatively out of the public eye in recent months, May saw the release of "Soy veneno"—a cumbia packed with standout elements that, unfortunately, didn't quite break out beyond the Texas circuit. However, that does not diminish the exceptional quality of its arrangement and vocal delivery.
Joanna Rae has built an artistic career deeply rooted in the energy of the tejano music movement. Consequently, her releases have largely targeted audiences across the Southern United States, leaning into traditional Tex-Mex rhythms and keyboard-driven cumbias, delivering precisely the authentic sound expected within her style.
"Soy veneno" is an incredibly captivating cumbia with an upbeat tempo that instantly gets people moving. It seamlessly blends into any playlist featuring Tex-Mex, grupero, or modern norteño hits.
Co-written by Joanna Rae alongside Evan Fierro, the track dropped on May 25th. For now, this vibrant single stands as her sole release in a year that is already approaching its final stretch.
