KAREN LIZARAZO - LATIN GRAMMY
Miami, Florida, UNITED STATES. Colombian artist Karen Lizarazo relives the excitement of receiving a Latin GRAMMY® nomination, as it has been announced that she is nominated for the third time, this occasion thanks to her work “El Tiempo Perfecto,” her most recent studio production. The album places her in the category Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album, reaffirming her position as the most outstanding woman in Colombia’s popular music scene this year.
Released on May 27, El Tiempo Perfecto features 12 songs and represents Lizarazo’s intentional return to her vallenato roots. The project took shape after her decision to move to Valledupar, where she developed the album closely with musicians, accordion players, and composers linked to the genre, building a repertoire that explores love, heartbreak, nostalgia, faith, and personal growth.
For the album, Karen worked with composers such as Rolando Ochoa, Sergio Luis Rodríguez, Carlos Rueda, and Melkis Suárez, along with new voices like Alberto Kammerer, Samuel Pérez, Gustavo Pérez, and Amanda Coronel. Among its tracks is “Te Vas Pa’l Carajo,” written by Rolando Ochoa, one of the central songs of a production that preserves the essence of vallenato while incorporating the fusions that have shaped the artist’s musical identity.
The nomination represents a new chapter in Karen Lizarazo’s history with the Latin GRAMMY®. She received her first nomination in 2020 for Voz de Mujer and returned to the category in 2025 with De Amor Nadie Se Muere. Now, El Tiempo Perfecto allows her to add her third nomination, and her second consecutive year competing for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album.
The 27th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards will take place on November 12, 2026, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Final voting will be held from October 1 to October 12.
