"GUÁRDAME UN LUGAR" - SOL CUEVAS
Monterrey, Nuevo León, MEXICO. Independent music has never been as personal as it has been since the musical emergence of Sol Cuevas in the Mexican recording industry. If there is someone who has truly mastered the art of being an autonomous artist, it is undoubtedly this Mexican singer-songwriter. Proof of this is that her releases have given her the opportunity to explore and fuse different styles while leaving her own distinct mark. "Guárdame un lugar" (Save Me a Spot) is the latest example of her accomplished work; not only does it have the potential to become a hit and a classic for Father's Day, but it is also a heartfelt exercise in love dedicated to those fathers who are no longer with us physically, but who left their essence in the lives of their children.
"I wrote this song thinking about all those dads who are watching over us from heaven. It is a very personal song; it was born from the need to connect positively with the grief of losing someone as important as a father. I hope people can listen to it and that it helps heal their hearts, just as it did for me when I wrote this track," Sol points out.
What makes Sol Cuevas unique is the way she lives her life, her worldview, the philosophy with which she faces every challenge, and the experiences she has accumulated. All of this has given her the ability to speak about everything with affection, honesty, and above all, respect. One of the values she has always promoted through her music is family unity, which is why her songs always touch the most sensitive chords of anyone who listens. While the entire world gives lectures on resilience, the Monterrey native gives us permission to experience love in all its facets; she validates our emotions through the strength that can only be obtained after acknowledging one's own weakness. This has allowed her to connect with her "solecitxs" (her fans), who, both in the digital world and during her musical performances, express their admiration and affection, urging her to continue—because that is precisely what makes her so beloved.
"The inspiration for this song was remembering all those beautiful moments I spent with my dad; all those lovely things I experienced with him from childhood to adulthood. He was always with me, supporting me and accompanying me at every moment. That was the inspiration for creating this song. I recorded it in Mexico City at Estudio Eclictik with two very talented producers, Camila Rozman and Fiorella Siso. In fact, this song was created entirely by women, which makes it even more interesting and special," she says about the creative process.
Sol Cuevas' career is undoubtedly on the rise. She has not only managed to establish herself as one of the most outstanding promises in Mexico's independent music scene, but her structured work and the backing of a professional team have led her to ascend meteorically into the most demanding spheres of the industry. Her intelligent decision to continue producing music without the pressure of a record label has given her the freedom to explore her talent in contemporary pop, romantic ballads, and even regional-pop, which exponentially expands her reach to the public. Such versatility is something few figures can boast, except for artists of the stature of Carín León, Yuridia, or Myriam, who have also managed to fuse styles with total audience acceptance.
"It was very beautiful to work on this track because I think it arrived at the perfect time. It wasn't planned; I believe there are no coincidences, only 'God-incidences,' because everything was ready just in time for Father's Day weekend. What I liked most is that all those people who miss their dad can enjoy it on that date. I trust it will serve as a warm hug for those who feel sad because their father is far away or no longer with them physically," Sol comments on the planning of her latest release.
"Guárdame un lugar" is the first of five singles that will be arriving in the near future and will make up Sol's new EP. She plans to release each of these new recordings at approximately eight-week intervals, demonstrating her precise scheduling for future premieres. Alongside her studio productions, Sol Cuevas balances her schedule with live performances; for example, in a few days, she will be present at ANIMEX, at Cintermex, where she will participate as a special guest within the event's musical lineup.
